Asbestos exposure is a serious social and health issue worldwide.

Gisyou Co. Ltd. has successfully developed an innovative solidifying-agent application method designed to reduce asbestos dispersion to virtually zero.

In demolition and renovation projects, solidifying agents are typically used to prevent or contain asbestos fibers. However, conventional application methods only harden the surface layer. As a result, asbestos fibers inevitably become airborne during grinding or cutting operations such as pulverization or sanding—posing a significant health and safety challenge.

In contrast, our newly developed application method has been proven to completely prevent dispersion during grinding and cutting, an outcome previously considered unavoidable. This breakthrough is expected to fundamentally resolve long-standing issues in asbestos control.

What Makes Our New Application Method Different?

Ordinarily, solidifying agents are applied two to three times to ensure deep penetration. With our method, the first application can be performed unmanned using a specialized machine. When workers carry out the second and subsequent applications, the asbestos has already been fully solidified, eliminating the risk of exposure.

Additionally, the solidifying agent used in our method is water-based and inorganic, which means it poses no health risks associated with chemical substances. The process is simple, safe, and significantly more cost-efficient than traditional approaches.

Verified “Zero Dispersion” in Public Testing

Our method has undergone verification by an independent, government-certified testing organization in Japan. Certified measurement specialists analyzed airborne asbestos concentrations following application and confirmed levels “below the detection limit (effectively zero)” under both Level 1 and Level 3 conditions — meaning the highest-risk friable asbestos work and lower-risk non-friable asbestos work.

This performance exceeds what conventional methods have been able to achieve and serves as robust evidence of our method’s exceptional ability to prevent fiber dispersion. A patent application for the technology is currently pending.

Long-Term Health Impacts Persist in Many Countries

In many nations, regulations on asbestos management have advanced. However, owing to the extensive historical use of asbestos, large quantities remain in existing buildings, resulting in prolonged health risks.

Furthermore, asbestos abatement and control measures impose significant financial burdens, causing delays in demolition and renovation projects. Consequently, many hazardous structures remain untouched.

By adopting our method, asbestos control measures can be implemented more safely and efficiently, accelerating progress in resolving these longstanding public-health and infrastructure challenges.

About Our Company

Gisyou Co., Ltd. also undertakes a wide range of painting and coating projects.

With extreme summer heat becoming more severe in recent years, schools across Japan have seen a rise in heat-related incidents affecting students, making countermeasures a pressing issue.

In response, we conducted durability tests on thermal-insulation coatings in collaboration with a major coating manufacturer. The tests confirmed a significant reduction in indoor temperatures. Once the formal evaluations are finalized, we plan to begin applying thermal-insulation coatings in local educational facilities.

We also offer exterior painting using high-durability coatings developed exclusively for major housing manufacturers, which are not sold on the general market. These coatings can prevent discoloration and surface deterioration for up to 30 years.

Since our founding, our proven workmanship, fair pricing, and prompt, community-focused service have earned us the trust and confidence of clients throughout the region.
