Plant Puzzle Therapy
Plant Puzzle Therapy is a completely new therapy that incorporates features of plants into occupational therapy elements. Many people are fond of flowers. By applying the characteristics of flowers or plants into psychology, it is possible to fully stimulate the five senses of human beings. This therapy aims at improving finger functions and maintaining cognitive functions with its own occupational therapy program. One of these therapy programs uses flower arrangement blocks and kits developed and patented by nurses and occupational therapist teams.
This therapy uses all of the plant; flowers, stems, leaves, branches, and fruit. These enable patients to improve step by step, so they can act positively while enjoying themselves. After being systematized as a therapy, Plant Puzzle Therapy has been registered as a trademark, and the unique arrangement blocks were patented in 2015. Currently, we are engaged in the dissemination of this therapy at medical and welfare facilities.
When I was in charge of an orthopedic ward as a nurse, I saw patients who were not motivated to engage in rehabilitation. At that time, it never occurred to me that flowers could provide motivational power. Subsequently I learned about the ‘power of flowers’ in a flower arrangement class which I had started taking as a hobby. From my own experiences, I realized that working with plants in any way can have a variety of positive of effects. Plants could relieve stress, help maintain physical function, and improve living motivation for those with mental and physical disorders including the elderly and children.
After 15 years, I became a professional flower designer and organized Plant Puzzle Therapy into healthcare / nursing care at my workplace. We offer instructor training courses for this therapy and dispatch lecturers mainly to kindergartens, nursery schools, welfare and medical facilities. This therapy is suitable as a teaching material and preparation time is minimal. For further information, please contact us via email.
